Hello friends,

It's time for us to innovate again! The people behind Market Street Media Foundry are excited to announce the launch of make\break. make\break provides a platform to make, break, experiment, invent, test, hack, design, challenge, push boundaries, make a mess, share, critique, learn and teach. It's a community of people sharing ideas, hosting events and creating media. The goal is to help each other make, break and grow creatively. make\break will continue carrying the torch for many of MSMF's best programs and ideas, such as Market Day, Drink and Draw, Your Art Sucks, and Lo-Fi Fun Night. make\break will also be launching many exciting new workshops, classes, hack nights, user groups, and programs in the coming months as we continue to break new ground in collaborative creativity.

This is not a simple name change. Market Street Media Foundry will be no more. The space has new renters, and we will no longer be doing any programming there. The successful aspects of MSMF are being rolled into a brand new initiative in collaboration with Impromptu Studio. Impromptu is a coworking community at 300 SW 5th Street, just south of the Whiteline Lofts and Science Center downtown.

We're extremely proud of Market Street Media Foundry and would like to sincerely thank all of the artists, makers and community members that helped it grow and inspire Des Moines' creative community. A number of cultural and community programs have taken cues from Market Street since we launched on January 1, 2009, and we hope to continue inspiring our city and community with make\break.

Why are we doing this? To continue to innovate. Less talk, more rock. We don't yet know what exactly make\break is, and that's really exciting. We hope you're excited, too.

If you liked MSMF, you're going to love make\break. We hope you'll consider staying connected. Visit the make\break website at and say hello.

Keep working harder,

- The Management

P.S. We still have a few MSMF t-shirts left. Say hello over at make\break and let us know what you loved about MSMF and you can have a free t-shirt while they last! |

Market Day is still on! New home at 300 SW 5th Street, even closer to the downtown farmer's market! Visit to learn more about market day 2010.
